The Piñon Project is seeking sponsors, volunteers for annual Christmas for Kids program. The Piñon Project is gearing up for its Christmas For Kids Program. Last Holiday season The Piñon Project was able to serve 235 total families and 603 total children and youth with the help of 145 sponsors. This program has grown immensely over the last 7 years with the generous help of community members.
The Piñon Project is reaching out in early preparation of the 2018 Christmas for Kids program and here is how you can contribute:
-The program is in need of NEW CLOTHES and NEW TOYS. As stores are switching over to colder weather clothes, a lot of summer wear is on discount, something to keep in mind if you are wanting to contribute sooner rather than later. Stocking stuffers are also accepted and can be donated without needing to be a sponsor to a specific family. Donations are tax deductible.
-The program is need of WRAPPING PAPER, TAPE, and GIFT BOWS. These may have been sitting in your closet for the last several years collecting dust, let us help you clean out those corners! Feel free to drop them off at The Piñon Project, 210 E Main St., Cortez, M-F 8-5pm or any other outreach events that we will post.
-VOLUNTEER! Lots of work and hours go into this program. These hours can be signed off and verified by our Piñon Project staff: perfect for graduates in need of volunteer service hours and for a great cause! If you would like to donate your time, we are more than happy to have your help. Send us a message or give a call to the number below and we will get ahold of you to see how you can contribute.
-SPONSOR! You can sponsor families as an individual, a business, or a family. If 145 sponsors were able to help 603 youth (fun fact: that’s about 10% of our community youth), imagine how many more could be reached with additional sponsors?! If you would like to be a sponsor please reach out to The Piñon Project to the contact below.
-GENERAL DONATIONS. If you would like to make a general contribution to the Christmas For Kids program you can also swing by The Piñon Project at 210 E Main St., Cortez or stop by any of our outreach events. There will be a donation box available at these locations specifically for this program.
Again, this is truly a community effort, helping those in need during the holiday season. It is amazing to see so many organizations, families and individuals come together to help one another out.
